The setting
Katuwana, near Tangalle, southern Sri Lanka
Katuwana is a village, not a tourist area, and that is what keeps it peaceful. The ashram sits in its own private jungle, so most of what you hear is birds, insects, wind and rain.
It is a real jungle, with everything that comes with it, including rough paths and mosquitoes. Bring repellent and shoes you can walk in.

Head inland to Katuwana
Katuwana is about 30 km from Tangalle and 50 km from Matara.
Follow Google Maps for the last stretch
There are no road signs and the final road is rough. Use our Google Maps pin, take a tuk-tuk from town, and ask locals for the ashram when you arrive.
Check in with the ashram staff
Check-in is a self check-in with the staff.
Tip: save the map offline before you set off, in case your signal drops on the way.
