About us

A peaceful place surrounded by nature, where guests are invited to slow down, rest and spend time with themselves.

A personal introduction

Listen to Ashram Sri Lanka share the essence of our practice and way of life

The essence of the retreat

For those who value simplicity, stillness and minimal interference

Why this retreat exists

Ashram Sri Lanka exists for those who have already walked their path and now seek depth through simplicity, inner silence and self-discipline.

Silence as foundation

The retreat is held by inner silence, allowing the mind to settle, perception to sharpen and understanding to unfold. Located deep within the jungle forest of Sri Lanka, the retreat is held by natural sound, long pauses and uninterrupted time.

Life without structure

There is no imposed schedule. Days unfold naturally, letting discipline emerge from responsibility, not control.

Who this retreat is for

This retreat is intended for yoga practitioners and individuals comfortable with solitude, inner silence and self-guided living.

Live like water

Adaptable, unforced and present

Water doesn’t force its way. It moves around the stone, rests where the ground is still, and keeps going.

Most of us spend our days trying to control things: time, outcomes, other people, ourselves.

Water works differently. It takes the shape of whatever holds it. When it meets an obstacle, it goes around. When it is disturbed, it becomes cloudy, and when it is left alone for a while, it clears again on its own.

That is the idea behind Ashram Sri Lanka. Not a teaching, just an attitude. Stop pushing for a while, and see what happens when you let life move. This way of living is currently being shaped into a book.

No timetable
There is no schedule to keep up with, so your days can take their own shape. Some days you will practise for hours. Some days you won’t.
Less to hold on to
Simple rooms, simple food, very few people. With less around you to manage, there is more room to notice what is actually happening.
Nature does most of the work
The jungle has its own rhythm of light, rain and sound. Living inside it for a while tends to slow you down without anyone asking you to.
Rooms named for the elements
The five rooms carry the names Apo (water), Wayo (air), Patavi (earth), Warna (visible forms) and Rasa (taste). They are small reminders that we are part of the world around us, not separate from it.
Not a doctrine
Ashram Sri Lanka is not a religious institution. There is no guru, no teaching and nothing to believe. “Live like water” is simply the spirit the place was made in. You are free to find your own meaning in it, or none at all.
A non-profit sanctuary
Your room contribution helps maintain the ashram, rest going to "Help the helper project and no other donations are asked.
