What kind of retreat we do at the Ashram
This is not the usual Indian style meditation,( This is not an Indian Hindu-meditation center) it can be misleading to think that Ashrams are places where people who come will have teachers and support groups or an entourage as your guidance. Around the time when ashrams were first built around five to seven thousand years ago, there were no programs or activities, no religious dogma or prayers to guide anyone, however gradually whoever who wished to maintain a life of anonymity with just basic needs being met, created their own day to day schedule to cultivate certain habits which eventually became traits and the salient activity being meditation and concentration on oneself.
Practice the ‘Art of Nothing’ and simply ‘Rest,Sleep, Eat and Repeat’ or join daily meditation & yoga by your own and repeat it where ever you are
Retreat means taking time away from your ordinary life and situations. It is a special time to give yourself some peace and relax. You might be stepping away from a hectic lifestyle full of demanding activities and a too busy life style. You may be taking a break from the responsibilities of children or caring for someone. You may be escaping from a bad emotional situation. You may just want some quiet and to be left alone for a day or two. You may just want some tranquility in which to consider where you are in life.
Simple living
A number of religious and spiritual traditions encourage simple living and Various notable individuals have claimed that spiritual inspiration led them to a simple living lifestyle this is the best retreat what you can teach yourself if you once teach this to yourself, you going to understand the word “enough”…. that’s show you to the path of happiness.
Stepping in to the ashram Sri lanka (Eco-sustainable and eco-friendly) for spiritual reawakening, as we deal with the demands and challenges of everyday life, which people sometimes are unable to cope with or come to terms with, a retreat at the ashram will give the time and space they need for introspection, reflection, contemplation and meditation. During the stay people can attend to spiritual activities in a disciplined way so that when they go back they will feel more confident and strengthened in their outlook of life that brought about in their practices and experiences at the Ashram. Our Thoughts, our Speech and our deeds have an irreversible and definitive affect to the environment where we are, therefore it is important to understand the repercussion and bring your sincere efforts to preserve, protect and cherish such a place as the ashram with right thoughts and actions.
Yoga
Make your time to do your own yoga practice in the Ashram yoga center (some like to do it in front of the Bodhi tree) that can bring about relaxation of body and tranquility to your mind especially if you indulge in such practices early morning hours.
A retreat lets our feelings open up and gives us access to both the light and dark corners of our deep feelings. It can bring understanding of where you are in relationships too. All the great spiritual endeavours are about discovering one’s own self in ways that help us to grow in happiness and love.
Men and women have always needed to withdraw temporarily at one point or another in life, from daily living in order to nourish their inner life of the spirit. Moses retreated to Mount Sinai. Jesus went into the desert. Buddhists annually make a retreat. Muslims go for a day of prayer and fasting within the mosque. The Hindus withdraw to the temple or wanders alone across the land.
Retreat yourself your own way, you won’t find it teachers here to teach you how to retreat yourself, so you have to do it yourself
Fasting Retreat
Enjoy taking care of yourself, and dedicate yourself to a few days that will help your body to maintain the daily rhythm without detracting energy from the reserves it stores, which in the long run will diminish the chances of suffering decay and disease processes.
You will enjoy a few days detox with daily yoga and meditation sessions, This retreat program is designed for relaxation of the body and the mind. Its purpose is to offer you a physical and emotional rest, to purify your body and increase your vitality. Ideal if you are a busy and relatively healthy person who needs to rest and revitalize your body. (please inform your fasting schedule early)
Silent Retreat
Silent retreats in any tradition means, directing your energy, focusing on a perpetual effort of igniting wisdom by the use of external communication and channeling it inward. This type of structured silence is growing in popularity, no doubt thanks to the communication-burnout many people feel in our 24/7 high-speed world.
True silence is a deeply personal experience that’s different for everybody; the truth is, there’s no way to know exactly what will happen once you’re alone with yourself.
In the process of discovery of one’s self you might need to recognize both positive and negative thoughts as thoughts without framing them. The destination, if you’re patient enough to get there, is a place of compassion for all aspects of yourself, and that’s a reward that’s worth the journey.
This practice of observing your inner landscape can teach greater tolerance and endurance that lasts long after the retreat is over, towards stresses and emotional imbalances in life.
Create your own schedule for your own inner journey, in profound peace and silence. (not vipassana, not a religious supported ashram; no guru, no dogma)
The family room is reserved only to purpose of practicing silent retract.
forth retreat – Meditation
Empty mind mediation system
Buddha is the best meditation master we have ever heard and known of, he was the only one to have discovered and expounded the proper technique of meditation that eventuated in enlightenment or liberation from suffering, as many would know.
Following or sending your mind after those. When you don’t analyze or giving any response to those things your mind becomes empty.
ME, MY, MINE (delusion)
You are the best teacher you can ever find on this earth, from birth how many things have you seen, heard, smelled, tasted, felt and
taught…how many? How much experience you have gained in the game of living thus you are the only person who can liberate yourself have faith in yourself…You are the master of your own game, you can do it
You might ask, how am I going to make it? it’s easy to do, you only have one student, one listener who has never being under
your control …then how does it become easy…because he is inside within you. so you can do it. No one else can do it for you because others are living outside …if you can’t get it done you end up becoming a slave to all your greed, anger and delusion that burns inside, of you.
Do not let to the pressures inside of you make you unhappy or sad, be free from yourself…and then you can be truly happy
Now…. Got that. Understood? You can do it. trust yourself. you can do it!
We call that “Realization of one’s own self” by ultimately realizing there is no self. All complications, stresses and suffering are based on the perception of self (ME, MY, AND MINE) we know that you are not there yet but the important thing is you will eventually get there.
This is the place where it can all end and can give you a new beginning to true living with a new outlook of life and that’s why we call this Ashram
“A Meditation centre for realization of one’s own self”
first step is the hardest
